Canadian startup founders are often forced to sell their growing companies to foreign buyers due to systemic barriers in domestic capital, procurement and talent retention, says a report by the Council of Canadian Innovators, The Impact Group and other partners. This loss of intellectual property and strategic leadership hinders Canada's ability to build global anchor companies, and more support is needed for domestic scaling companies.
