Sally Brown has been appointed president and CEO of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC) and will take up her new duties in late September. She moves to the HSFC after 10 years with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), first as VP and then as its senior VP from 1996 onward. As second in command to president Dr Robert Giroux, she was an effective advocate for increased funding for university research. During her remaining time at AUCC, Brown will focus on the Association’s communications campaign to raise awareness of the importance of under graduate arts and science programs at its member institutions. Brown’s departure marks the third policy executive to leave AUCC in the past year. Last fall, Robert Davidson left his position as the AUCC’s director of the research and policy analysis division to join SGI Canada as its director of market development and post-secondary education.
