New award to accelerate health commercialization

Johnson & Johnson's Corporate Office of Science and Technology (COSAT) has teamed with the University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto to jointly fund a new award to accelerate commercialization of health care products and processes. The Development Acceleration Award will provide $1 million over three years to researchers within the UHN. It will target areas such as R&D in areas such as neuromodulation, cortical stimulation and localized drug delivery, tissue generation and regenerative medicine and development of novel models for drug development. UHN's participation in the award is through its recently created UHN Global Ventures division, which moved into the MaRS Discovery District last year. The UHN had 465 researchers and $160.7 million in research funding in FY04-05....
