Increased neuroscience research urged

Canada must mount a concerted and coordinated effort confront the under funding of neuroscience research, says NeuroScience Canada (NSC). The not-for-profit corporation has released a report calling for the federal government to provide $25 million over five years to NSC for large-scale research projects. NSC is pledging to raising $1 for every $2 in government funding. It is also urging increased funding for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research so that it can support more individual investigator and team grants. NSC was founded in 1998 following the demise of the NeuroScience Network of Centres of Excellence (R$, October 29/97). A copy of the report can be obtained at www.neurosciencecanada.ca....
