MDS PROTEOMICS FORGES AHEAD WITH EXPANSIONS

MDS Proteomics Inc is continuing to increase its research capabilities despite its recent withdrawal of an initial public offering with the completion of a new facility in Odense Denmark and an expansion of Toronto facilities. The 3,000-sq-m Danish facility will house more than 60 scientists, several customized mass spectrometers and the world's 11th largest cluster of Linux computers. The Toronto facility is being expanded by 5,000-sq-m for analyzing protein interaction pathways and producing data for its BIND database, which is being supported through a collaboration with IBM Corp (R$, February 12/01). A new Boston-based facility is slated for completion in the coming months that will focus on throughput screening, structural biology, drug design, medicinal chemistry and protein identification....
