McGill and U of T join edX on-line learning service

McGill Univ and the Univ of Toronto have joined edX, a $60-million on-line learning initiative launched by Harvard Univ and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2012. The two Canadian institutions are part of a tranche of six non-US universities that doubles edX's membership. Members gain access to MIT's open-source MITx platform and massive datasets that will be key for conducting research into digital learning environments and the development of assessment tools.
