Ubisoft commits $373M to expand Montreal operations

Rennes France-based Ubisoft Entertainment SA has committed $373 million to its operations in Montreal and will boost employment by 500 to 3,500 as part of a new agreement with the Quebec government. The province is providing a $9.9-million non-renewable grant and making industry-wide changes to its multimedia tax credit to recognize new types of activities. It will also remove the cap on the maximum production work entitled for tax assistance. As the gaming industry moves on-line, games have become accessible from anywhere and on any platform.
