Quebec fleshes out northern research centre

The Quebec government is providing more details on its planned research institute for the northern two thirds of the provinces, which received $2 million in the last provincial Budget (R$, June 16/14). The Nordic Institute of Quebec is part of the recently revived (and scaled back) Plan Nord, which provides a long-term strategic approach to the development of Quebec's northern territories. The institute will assemble a team of researchers from McGill Univ, Laval Univ and the National Institute of Scientific Research (INRS) and will coordinate its work with the Société du Plan Nord, which is now being created....
