NSERC launches northern research & innovation program

A new program to support large-scale, transformative research and innovation projects has been launched by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council. NSERC Frontiers consists of two separate programs — Discovery Frontier focused on discovery research and Innovation Frontiers aimed at R&D Partnerships with industry. Successful applicants will receive $1 million a year over five years and all funded projects must have an international partnership component. An initial call for proposals has been called for Discovery Frontiers, but funding will only allow one award to be made. Possible issues to be tackled include fresh water, permafrost, weather patterns and biodiversity. Deadline for submissions is December 11th….
