Nova Scotia considers launching new VC fund

Nova Scotia is exploring the possibility of launching a privately operated venture capital fund to target the region's opportunities in clean technology, life sciences, information technology and other high-tech sectors. If the proposed fund is greenlighted, the province will use some of the $30 million it committed last year to Nova Scotia First Fund, managed by Innovacorp, and raise $20 million to $50 million in capital from the private sector and other institutional investors. Such a fund was recommended in a recent report — Invest More, Innovate More, Trade More, Learn More — by Donald Savoie, holder of the Canada Research Chair in Public Administration at the Univ of Moncton....
