Hifi Engineering Inc, Calgary, has successfully tested its fibre optic sensing technology for monitoring gas and fluid flows in pipelines and oil and gas wells. The testing, which achieved 100% performance with no false positives, was conducted in conjunction with C-CORE, a St John’s NF-based R&D organization with expertise in remote sensing, geotechnical engineering and ice engineering.  Funding was provided by LOOK North, a commercialization agency hosted by C-CORE. Hifi had previously worked with Enbridge’s Pipeline Controls Systems and Leak Detection team to evaluate its high-fidelity dynamic sensing technology and has received $2 million in support from Sustainable Development Technology Canada.
