Gerri Sinclair has been appointed president of the recently created British Columbia Premier’s Technology Council (PTC). Sinclair is also a member of the BC Progress Board, which reports to the premier twice a year on the province’s economic progress to provide a framework for the government’s budget preparations. She brings to both positions extensive private sector experience in the field of information technology. Sinclair was founder and former president of Ncompass Labs, a web content management software firm recent acquired by Microsoft Corp. She also previously served as an IBM consulting scholar and a visiting research scientist at the firm’s TJ Watson Labs in New York. Sinclair’s appointment completes the makeup of the PTC. Its 14 members were appointed August 20 and include business representatives from all major technology sectors as well as leaders in the education and research communities.
