Dr William Bridger assumed his new duties September 1 as president and CEO of the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Science and Engineering Research (AHFSER). Formerly VP research at the Univ of Western Ontario, Bridger was previously associate VP research and a professor of biochemistry at the Univ of Alberta. As head of Alberta's newest research foundation, he will be responsible for establishing appropriate programs to fund researchers in science and engineering from its $500-million endowment.
