Genome project explores potential of camelina

Genome Prairie has teamed with several other public funding entities to launch the Prairie Gold project to explore the potential for camelina as an industrial oil platform. Popular in Europe prior to the dominance of rapeseed and canola, project researchers recently completed the sequencing of the camelina genome and plan to explore its potential in various industrial applications. Other funding for the project was provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, National Research Council, Western Economic Diversification and Saskatchewan Ministry of the Economy....
