Feds invest $15 million in Canola Council of Canada

The federal Growing Forward 2 AgriInnovation Program has awarded $15 million to the Canola Council of Canada to facilitate research into canola oil and meal nutrition and production. The investment follows a $14.5 million contribution that focused on preliminary research suggesting that canola may be helpful in fighting obesity and cardiovascular disease. The Growing Forward 2 program was launched last April to provide up to $698 million over five years to catalyze innovation through support for R&D, commercialization, innovative product adoption, technologies and services. In 2012, canola was Canada's largest agricultural export with $8.6 billion in seed and oil sales globally…..
