Dr Tom Brzustowski has been appointed chair of the scientific advisory committee of the Council of Canadian Academies, replacing Elizabeth Dowdeswell who was recently appointed CCA president (R$, April 23/10). Brzustowski is the RBC professor for the Commercialization of Innovation at the Univ of Ottawa's School of Management and board chair of the Institute for Quantum Computing at the Univ of Waterloo. A former president of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) , he holds a BSc in engineering physics from the Univ of Toronto and a PhD in aeronautical engineering from Princeton Univ.
