Dr Denis Briére has been appointed chair of the board of governors of the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ), replacing outgoing chair Dr Heather Munroe-Blum. Briére is currently rector of Laval Univ, which he joined in 2000 after a long career in the forestry industry. He held executive positions at many firms including Kruger Forest Products Inc, Compact Group and James Bay Energy Corp. He also spent five years with the Forest Engineering Research Institute of Canada. Briére holds a PhD in forest management from the Univ of British Columbia.
