Dr Michael Plischke

Dr Michael Plischke has been appointed dean of science at Simon Fraser Univ. Plischke’s four-year mandate began September/04 and he has been acting in the position since June/03. Prior to that, he chaired the physics department for five years as well as a five-year stint in the same position between 1988 and 1993. He is a condensed matter theorist, holding a BSc from Loyala College and a masters degree in physics from Yeshiva Univ in Manhattan. As dean, Plischke will focus on a number of priorities including the appointment of a leadership chair in salmon conservation and management and interaction between the faculty of science and the new health sciences faculty….
