Dr Eugenia Kumacheva

Dr Eugenia Kumacheva has been named as one of this year's five winners of the L'ORÉAL-UNESCO Awards for Women in Science. Kumacheva is a researcher at the Univ of Toronto's department of chemistry where she designs and develops new materials for a wide variety of applications including targeted drug delivery for cancer treatments and high density optical data storage. A holder of the Canada Research Chair in Advanced Polymer Materials, Kumacheva received her MSc from the Institute of Chemical Technology (now Technical University) in Saint Petersburg, Russia and a PhD in physical chemistry of polymers at the Institute of Physical Chemistry (Russian Academy of Science).
