Dr Denys Cooper

Dr Denys Cooper has retired from the National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) after 33 years, but will remain with the organization as a guest worker conducting special projects. Cooper has held a number of senior positions within IRAP, most recently as senior advisor, technology and international. In this capacity he participated in a joint 2003-4 IRAP/Statistics Canada study on the growth of small firms, which he extended into his current interest in gazelles (high-growth firms) spun off from the university sector. Other areas in which Cooper has made significant contributions include: developing a unique tracking system for biotechnology investment, international collaborations and technology transfer to developing countries. As a guest worker, he will continue work on the study of gazelles and conduct other special projects. Cooper holds a PhD in polymer science from the Univ of Liverpool....
