Dr Chris Riddle is leaving Ont-ario’s Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology to take up a position with the recently created Task Force on Productivity, Competitiveness and Prosperity, headed by Roger Martin. Riddle will be executive director of the Institute for Competitiveness and Prosperity, a not-for-profit, arm’s length organization created to serve as the Task Force’s secretariat. He assumed his new position on September 4. Riddle was most recently head of MEST’s S&T Division as its acting assistant DM, a position he held for 10 months following the departure of Dr Bruce Archibald. Riddle’s career with the public service stretches back nearly 25 years. For the past several years he has served as director of the research, technology and innovation branch at MEST and prior to that at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, and Technology Ontario. The Task Force is an independent body which reports directly to the public and will initially be supported by public funds. Its membership should be announced later this month….
