Dr Brian Unger has been recognized for his pioneering research and leadership in high-speed computing by Cybera — Alberta's agency for the province's cyberinfrastructure. Unger's 19-year tenure as a board member began when it was known as Western Universities Research Consortium (WURCNet) and was president for the first six years. He was also the founding president of the Alberta Informatics Circle of Research Excellence (iCORE) from 1999 to 2005.
