Brazil's Fibria takes stake in Ensyn, launches joint venture

Fibria Celulose, São Paulo, Brazil, is making a $20-million equity investment in Ottawa-based Ensyn Corp, and establishing an equally owned joint venture in Brazil for the production of cellulosic liquid fuels and chemicals. The equity investment gives Fibria access to Ensyn's Rapid Thermal Processing technology which converts wood and other non-food biomass into renewable liquid fuels and chemicals. It gives Fibria a 6% stake in Ensyn and the option to increase its stake to 9%. Fibria is the world's largest producer of hardwood pulp and has a market capitalization of more than $4 billion. Ensyn currently operates plants in Renfrew ON and Wisconsin….
