Bell Aliant and PEI launch innovation fund

Bell Aliant has entered into a development agreement with the Government of Prince Edward Island to extend broadband services to every community in the province. The agreement will see Aliant invest $8.2 million, including a $1-million Joint Innovation Fund, in return for the province renewing its telecommunications contract with the telco for another five years. Aliant and the PEI government will contribute equally to the innovation fund, aimed at promoting and developing Internet-based applications and uses for business. It's estimated that 25% of PEI residen
