Innovating Innovation: A Quebec experiment
Date: November 9th, 2023 @ 1200h (EDT)
Location: Virtual Webinar

Event Summary

The Quebec government will invest $7.5+ billion over the next five years in a new experiment designed to equip the province with a solid base in research and innovation. The investment includes $2 billion of new funding from the 2022 budget.

Challenging the traditional “valley of death” as a blocking concept in our minds rather than a reality, a more collaborative and simplified approach will combine basic academic research, increased innovation and improved commercialization. The effort will emphasize Quebec’s most competitive sectors, including aerospace, green energy, life science, sustainable financing and agrifood. A barometer of innovation is currently being developed to establish reliable indicators of progress (or not).

Leading the five-year experiment will be “Le trio de l’innovation”: Quebec’s Chief Scientist, Chief Innovation Officer and VP of Partnerships at Investissement Québec. Also known as “the three Musketeers,” these three leaders will discuss the key principles underlying this new initiative.
