Gary Schmid has been appointed CEO of a new business unit created by Neurochem Inc to develop and market nutraceuticals. Schmid comes to Neurochem from Sante Naturelle AG Ltd, where he served as COO and then president and CEO. He also spent 20 years with Abbot Laboratories Ltd in a variety of sales and marketing roles. The federal government has appointed three new members to the governing council of the National Research Council. John Harker is president and vice chancellor of Cape Breton Univ, a position he has held since 2003. Previously he was chairman of Harker Associates Consulting and CEO of Southern Africa Education Trust Fund and has a background in international and national labour relations. Douglas MacArthur is president of MacArthur Group, a management and economics firm. He also heads the Canadian Agro-Sustainability Partnership and is chairman of MGImedia Communications Inc. David Wood is head of finance and corporate development, secretary and treasurer of Celator Pharmaceuticals Inc, Princeton NJ and Vancouver, a privately held biotechnology firm focused on new cancer therapies. Prior to joining Celator, he was managing director with UK-based Cubist Pharmaceuticals Ltd and senior director of international operations out of its Vancouver office....
