This issue of RE$EARCH MONEY is the last we will publish in calendar year 2000. And what a year it has been. It all began with word that the parent firm of RE$EARCH MONEY was in bankruptcy and the newsletter had ceased publication. Ten months later, the new and (we hope) improved RE$EARCH MONEY is back on its feet, with more readers than ever.

Thanks are obviously due to managing editor Mark Henderson for maintaining the high quality of the publication. Equally, credit goes to our loyal subscribers and readers who have overwhelmingly supported RE$EARCH MONEY by renewing their subscriptions and contributing their news, stories and opinions.

You have demonstrated that there is a strong market for informed insight and opinion on Canada's science and technology sector. As the Canadian innovative economy takes shape, RESEARCH MONEY will be there to keep you abreast and informed of the important players and developments as they occur. Our strong focus on regional initiatives will continue. This year was one with many highlights, and 2001 promises to be equally as exciting.

Year-end is traditionally a time for reflection. All of us at RE$EARCH MONEY want to thank you for your continued support and pass on our wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
