Dr Ralph Paroli has been appointed the 2016 board chairman of ASTM International, a West Conshohocken PA-based association for testing and materials which has defined and set more than 12,000 standards used globally. Paroli has been R&D director of measurement science and standards at the National Research Council since 2013 after serving as the NRC's director of building envelope and structure at the former Institute for Research in Construction. A dual Canadian-French citizen, he holds a BSc in analytical chemistry from Concordia Univ and a PhD in physical and inorganic chemistry from McGill Univ. ASTM International was formerly called the American Society for Testing and Materials and was founded in 1898. Paroli has been an ASTM member since 1994 and a board member since 2011....

Vancouver-based Moseda Technologies Inc has appointed Dr Lisa Crossley as its new CEO and Sameet Kanada as its president and board chairman. Moseda is a developer of software applications designed as secure mobile healthcare solutions and is currently ramping up its client base. Crossley has a background in venture and angel financing and negotiated channel agreements. She holds an MSc in anatomy and cell biology from McGill Univ and a BSc and PhD in chemical engineering from Queen's Univ. Board appointments include Genome Alberta and Mitacs. Kanada also has a background in venture capital and has worked within equity research at several firms. He holds an MBA from the Univ of Toronto. The Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) has hired two new VPs to lead AIAC Pacific. Taylor Briggs was previously with the Port of Vancouver and has advised BC Cabinet ministers. He will be responsible for government relations. Mike Mueller will be in charge of communications, marketing and business development, drawing on a background of management and communications as well as advising and serving as chief of staff to federal Cabinet ministers.
