Dr James Charlton has been appointed VP research of Medicure Inc, a Winnipeg-based developer of cardiovascular therapeutics targeting unmet needs. He will be responsible for managing and integrating the firm's drug discovery and clinical research programs. Charlton is a professor of chemistry at the Univ of Manitoba (U of M) and has worked with Medicure for the past two years as a special consultant. He has more than 30 years of experience in organic chemistry, specializing in the synthesis of active compounds. Previous industry experience includes a stint at the Bio-Méga Research division of Boehringer Ingelheim Canada Ltd. He will work closely with Dr Naranjan Dhalla, Medicure's co-founder, director and chief scientific officer, who also serves as director of the U of M's Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences....
