Dr Alain Beaudet

Dr Alain Beaudet has been appointed president of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Beaudet comes to CIHR from the Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec (FRSQ) where he held the positions of president and CEO (2004-2008) and director of scientific affairs (2000-2004). He replaces interim president Dr Pierre Chartrand who held the position following the departure of Dr Alan Bernstein last fall (R$, July 3/07). Prior to joining FRSQ, Beaudet was assistant director of the Montreal Neurological Institute. He has an extensive track record in health research management and brokering partnerships and collaboration among various stakeholder groups. Beaudet holds a medical degree and PhD in neuroscience from the Univ of Montreal and did his post-doctoral training at the Centre d'etudes nucleaire in Sarclay France and the Brain Research Institute at the Univ of Zurich....
