BMO makes $4-million gift to Perimeter Institute

BMO Financial Group has donated $4 million to the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (PI) to establish the BMO Isaac Newton Chair in Theoretical Physics. It's the largest corporate donation in the institute's history, will be matched by $4 million drawn from PI's endowment fund and is expected to attract additional funding partners. The chair is the first of five that PI is planning to establish, named after pioneering scientists who have defined modern physics — Newton, James Clerk Maxwell, Niels Bohr, Albert Einstein and Paul Dirac. The chair will be filled following an international search….
