Xenon opens laboratory near McGill Univ

Xenon Genetics Inc has opened a new laboratory in Montreal adjacent to McGill Univ. The new facility will focus on advancing the Montreal-based firm’s drug discovery programs in neuropsychiatric diseases and other diseases of the central nervous system. It will also conduct research in comparative genomics using congenic mouse technology developed at McGill over the last eight years. The laboratory will be headed up by Dr Guy Rouleau, a former Quebec Scientist of the Year. Earlier this year, privately-held Xenon completed a private placement with an international syndicate of institutional, venture capital and pharmaceutical firms for gross proceeds of $70 million (R$, April 23/01)....
