SGI sells Toronto’s Alias to Accel-KKR for US$57.5M

Silicon Graphics Inc (SGI), Mountain View CA, has sold its wholly owned subsidiary —Toronto’s Alias Graphics Inc (formerly Alias Wavefront) — to Accel-KKR. The Menlo Park CA-based private equity investment firm plans to grow Alias through technology and company acquisition. Alias has developed a global reputation for its 3D graphics technology, which has been used in numerous high-profile films and video games as well as the interactive media, automotive, industrial design, education and visualization markets.
