Saskatchewan launches first health research chair

The Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation (SHRF) has selected dementia as the first area of focus in a series of 10 potential research chairs, partnering with the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan for a combined $1-million commitment. The SHRF's Saskatchewan Research Chair Program was launched in 2008 to support the province's health researchers and recruit new talent in areas identified as priorities in Saskatchewan's health research strategy. With the Baby Boomer generation hitting 65, the number of Canadians with Alzheimer's disease is expected to double within 25 years to 1.3 million….
