Roger Voyer, a pioneer in Canadian science policy and co-founder of Nordicity Group, has died at age 79. Voyer was research director of the Science Council of Canada and also served as executive director of the Canadian Institute of Economic Policy and represented Canada on the OECD Committee for Science and Technology Policy. He was also an adjunct professor at Carleton Univ and the Univ of Ottawa and author of several books including The New Innovators: How Canadians are Shaping the Knowledge Based Economy (1994) and contributed several Opinion Leader columns to Research Money. In 1979, he co-founded Nordicity Group Ltd (which was sold in 1997 to PriceWaterhouseCoopers), going on to launch a successful consultancy. A memorial service was held for Voyer in Ottawa on June 23.
