Public Safety launches terrorism research office

The federal Public Safety department has announced a new national office and centre of excellence for community outreach and counter-radicalization, effectively replacing the Kanishka Project which was founded by the previous government in 2011 and whose $10-million funding envelope has expired. The new office will take terrorism research in-house and will cost between $7 million and $10 million annually. The office will conduct its own research and coordinate efforts by other organizations such as the Univ of Waterloo-based Canadian Network for Research on Terrorism, Security and Society....
