Phil Baker is stepping down as president and CEO of the Ontario Research and Innovation Network (ORION), a position he has held since establishing the organization in 2001. Baker is retiring after a 30-year career in the Ontario public service, where he played a key role in the development of Ontario's broadband and networking strategies, including the Ontario Telecommunications Strategy (OTS). Under the OTS, he developed and delivered the $100-million Ontario Network Infrastructure Program and the $50-million Telecommunications Access Program. More recently, Baker established a collaborative platform for researchers and educators (O3) and a data back-up initiative currently in the test phase. He plans to stay involved in provincial innovation capacity and broadband initiatives....
