ORION and Sheridan explore potential for IPTV

ORION — Ontario's high-speed research and education network — is exploring the potential for launching an Internet protocol television (IPTV) education channel over its network. ORION and Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning will hold a workshop on June 19 to explore platform and infrastructure issues as well as reviewing the current environment for educational media content in Ontario's post-secondary institutions. A survey of relevant institutions is being conducted and will be presented at the workshop. An IPTV channel would offer a new platform for posting live and on-demand content including films, documentaries, animation, research, digital media and performance art as well as lectures and journalism programming….
