Ontario invests $4 million in EcoVu clean tech

The Ontario government is investing $4 million in EcoVu to help the Ottawa-based developer of water purification and analysis systems mount six technology demonstration projects around the province. The funding is the tenth investment to be made through the $30-million Innovation Demonstration Fund (IDF), managed by the Ministry of Research and Innovation. Last year, EcoVu won the 2008 Life Science Company of the Year Award from the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation for its technology which removes colloids — finely dispersed materials that remain suspended in water — that other technologies have difficulty removing. A major new report on Ontario's clean technology sector says significant opportunities may not be realized without major private and public investment in the development of commercialization capabilities and activities and management capacity. Federal and provincial governments are encouraged to offer targeted incentives to align demand with industry capabilities. It also calls for significant investment in demonstration plants and proof-of-concept equipment. FYI: www.cleantechnologyreport.ca....
