Eight applied research projects at community colleges have each received $2.3 million over five years in the inaugural round of the Community College Innovation (CCI) program. Administered by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the projects follow a successful $1.8-million College and Community Innovation Pilot Program launched in 2004 (R$, March 3/04). Four of the eight CCI projects were awarded to Quebec-based institutions.
