Northern Ontario medical research receives $5 million

Nearly $5 million in 84 physician-driven research and innovation projects have been announced by the Northern Ontario Academic Medical Association (NOAMA). The funding is being provided by the Alternative Funding Plan of the Academic Health Sciences Centre and NOAMA's own Clinical Innovation Opportunities Fund. The projects include $2.1 million to investigate emergency room response for remote First Nations to reduce diabetes-related amputations, a study into neonatal narcotic exposure in Sioux Lookout and the design of a telemedicine assessment tool for Parry Sound....
