New company to develop, market brain fitness products

Brain fitness products for helping extend memory and cognitive abilities later in life is the focus of a new company formed by the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care and MaRS. Cogniciti's first product (MemoryWork) is a corporate training program to teach employees, managers and team leaders how to use memory to improve personal performance in the workplace. The start-up is the first commercial output from the Baycrest Centre for Brain Fitness, which received $10 million in funding last year from the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation which was matched by private donors. The plan to launch Cogniciti has been underway for the past three years. Future products set for test marketing in 2011 and 2012 include brain exercise games for mobile devices and the web….
