New aerospace R&D facility established in Winnipeg

The federal government is investing $5 million through Western Economic Diversification to create a new aerospace R&D facility that will be associated with the new $50-million GE Aviation Engine Research Development Centre in Winnipeg, which opens next week. The WD funding will establish West Canitest R&D Inc (WestCARD) to conduct R&D projects in the areas of advanced instrumentation and data acquisition systems, noise attenuation and management technologies, flight operations in icy condition and health-management systems and technologies. Standard Aero will also benefit from WestCARD's R&D activities as it overhauls gar turbine engines for several major manufacturers and airlines....
