Michael Tremblay has been appointed president and CEO of Invest Ottawa effective March 2, filling the position that has been vacant for nearly a year following the departure of inaugural president Bruce Lazenby after a five-year term. Tremblay comes to the city’s innovation and economic development agency from Microsoft Canada where he was VP public services for more than a decade. Prior to Microsoft, he was a senior VP with SAP Canada and Fujitsu Consulting and a VP with JDS Uniphase, EDS Systemhouse and Digital Equipment Corp. Invest Ottawa is the lead tenant in the Innovation Centre at Bayview Yards, which was recently established in a renovated public works heritage building (R$, June 23/16). At Invest Ottawa Tremblay will align and coordinate several incubators and organizations driving the innovation and entrepreneurship agenda in the region. He will also promote Ottawa as a destination for high-tech firms in a region with the second-largest concentration of high tech workers in the country after Toronto. Tremblay holds a diploma in computer technology from Algonquin College and an MBA from Concordia Univ.
