McMaster and Biosign collaborate on health IT

McMaster Univ and Biosign Technologies Inc, Thornhill ON, are collaborating to develop a standard certification program for devices generating digital health data. McMaster researchers will use Biosign's UFIT (R) quality assurance framework to help certify software-intensive systems based on the product (automated health monitors) rather than the development process. Biosign is contributing $1 million in cash and in-kind over five years. McMaster has put together project teams from the departments of computing and software and psychology, neuroscience and behaviour. They will work on several projects to standardize the Biosign framework to enable online provision of health information services by medical devices.
