Japan to unveil new growth strategy

Alternative energy, environmental technologies, health and medical R&D and a focus on small firms are among the priorities of Japan's New Growth Strategy, introduced by the government of prime minister Yukio Hatoyama. The nation's Growth Strategy Implementation Plan will be introduced this summer along with a detailed timetable and deliverables. It will shift Japan's emphasis to demand-led growth and domestic consumption as well as greater economic integration with East Asia. The strategy arrives as Japan seeks to break the cycle of years of economic stagnation compounded by the economic crisis....
