ISTPCanada announces eight Canada-China R&D projects

Eight Canada-Chinese R&D projects involving companies from both countries have received $10.6 million from a variety of government and private sector sources. The funding was provided through an agreement between International Science and Technology Partnerships Canada Inc (ISTPCanada) — the delivery arm of the International Science and Technology Program and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology. The R&D projects include initiatives for high-yield pulp and paper, marine pharmaceuticals for hospitalized patients, interoperability of wireless access terminals and a non linear generator system for oceanic and tidal wave energy. The announcement was made by International Trade minister David Emerson in Beijing on May 22. Also announced were 12 grants for Partnership Development Activities worth more than $800,000....
