GE enters S&T partnerships with Alberta

General Electric (GE) is teaming with the Alberta government to establish two R&D centres focused on heavy oil and innovation in general as well as development projects and pilot program in health care technologies and financing for small businesses. The cross-business GE Innovation Centre will be located in Calgary and also house the GE Global Heavy Oil Centre of Excellence. The innovation centre will showcase GE's technological capabilities and serve as the locus of collaboration on energy, water and infrastructure challenges. In the area of health care, GE will pilot new solutions and medical devices. It will also partner with Alberta Advanced Education and Technology on a special outreach initiative to explore financing options for smaller Alberta-based firms….
