Dr Pearl Sullivan has been appointed dean of engineering at the Univ of Waterloo for a five-year term. Sullivan, who is chair of the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering (DMME), replaces Dr Adel Sedra whose second term ends June 30/12. As head pf the DMME, she led the department through a period of unprecedented growth, particularly in graduate education and research, receiving the university's Outstanding Performance Award in 2009. Sullivan's own research focuses on fibre-reinforced polymer materials increasingly used in the automotive and aerospace industries.....
