Dr Michel Bergeron has been awarded the Quebec government’s Wilder-Penfield award recognizing achievements in the field of biomedical sciences. Bergeron was honoured for his research contributing to the development of rapid diagnostic tests using microbial DNA rather than bacterial cultures. He is a professor of microbiology and director of the Infectious Disease Research Centre at Laval Univ. Bergeron is also involved in the large-scale Theranostic Technology project funded by Genome Canada and Genome Québec The award was presented in Quebec’s national assembly on November 8....

CMC Microsystems (formerly the Canadian Microelectronics Corp) has appointed Dan Gale to the new position of chief technology officer (CTO) in addition to his role as CMC’s VP. As CTO, Gale will be responsible for the organization’s strategic positioning and generating opportunities relating to technologies and partnerships. CMC has also appointed Paul Muysson to the newly created position of VP operations. Muysson was previously director of operations at Seaway Networks with responsibility for hardware product development and manufacturing through corporate partnerships. He also held senior positions at Tundra Semiconductor. Muysson will focus on operations management, business planning and performance measures, as well as ensuring sustained investment from governments, universities and business....
